Singapore Looks For Business Opportunities In Cuba

Official Visit of the Foreign Minister of The Republic of Cuba, Bruno
Rodriguez Parrilla, 12 – 13 October 2010.

The Foreign Minister of the Republic of Cuba Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla
called on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Minister for Foreign
Affairs George Yeo today.

Minister Rodriguez is visiting Singapore on an official visit from 12-13
October.

Minister Rodriguez briefed Prime Minister Lee and Minister Yeo on
developments in Cuba, including the economic reforms that Cuba is
undertaking.

Minister Rodriguez also hoped that both countries could enhance
bilateral cooperation.

Prime Minister Lee thanked Minister Rodriguez for the hospitality shown
to the Singapore delegation during his visit to Cuba in November 2009.

Prime Minister Lee wished Cuba well, and said that he hoped there would
be more opportunities for both countries to cooperate together in future.

Minister Rodriguez and Minister George Yeo agreed that both countries
enjoyed good cooperation in many multilateral forums like the United
Nations.

The two Foreign Ministers also had a wide-ranging discussion on regional
and international developments. Minister Yeo will host Minister
Rodriguez to dinner at his Bedok Reservoir constituency this evening.

After dinner, Minister Yeo will lead Minister Rodriguez on a short tour
of his constituency, including to witness a Meet-the-People Session.
